As:

• Some pages use JavaScript for their navigation menu.
• Most versions of Netscape Navigator 4.x also deactivate CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) with JavaScript. Thus the fonts are not presented in the best way.
• Some effects are simply not visible without JavaScript.
• All email addresses on ExPASy are encoded using JavaScript. Thus if JavaScript is not activated email addresses will not be visible !

How to activate JavaScript in:

Internet Explorer
To activate JavaScript in Internet Explorer click on "Tools" and open the "Internet options".
In the "Security" menu select "Internet" as the Web content Zone for which you wish to change the security settings.
Set the sliding scale to "medium". If your version does not have a sliding scale you can set the security level manually.
Click on "Custom level" to change manually. A menu will open. Scroll down through the menu and under "Scripting/Active Scripting" click on enable.
Confirm your choice by clicking on "OK".
Note: If you only want to activate JavaScript for certain sites, choose "Trusted sites" from the security menu, click on "Custom level" and activate JavaScript as described above. With option "Sites" you can add websites to the zone.

Mozilla
Click on "Edit" and choose the option "Settings".
Double click on "Advanced" and then click on "Scripts & Plugins" (In Mozilla 1.0 "Scripts & Windows"). Here you can activate "JavaScript".
Click on "Apply" to confirm.

Safari
Click on "Safari" and open the menu option "Preferences".
Click on "Security" and chose "Enable JavaScript", so that you can see a tick in the Checkbox.
Confirm your choice by closing the preferences window.

Netscape 7.0/6.0/4.78
Click on the "Edit" menu and select "Settings" and then "Advanced".
Choose the option "Activate JavaScript".
Confirm your choice by clicking "OK".

Opera 5
Click on "File" and open the "Settings" menu.
Click on the heading "Plug-Ins" and activate "Use JavaScript".
Confirm your choice with "Apply".

Opera 6/7
Use the "F12" key to call up the Menu "Quick preferences".
Chose "Enable JavaScript", so that you can see a tick in the Checkbox.

Phoenix
Click on "Tools" and open the menu option "Preferences".
Click on "Advanced" and open the "JavaScript" sub-menu.
Click on "Enable JavaScript", so that you can see a tick in the Checkbox.
Confirm your choice with "OK".
