| HAMAP: Pseudomonas putida (strain GB-1) complete proteome |
| Species code: | PSEPG |
| Taxonomy: | Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Gammaproteobacteria; Pseudomonadales; Pseudomonadaceae; Pseudomonas (TaxID: 76869) [NEWT/ NCBI] |
| Description: | Members of the genus Pseudomonas are characterized by their ability to grow in simple media at the expense of a great variety of organic compounds. They have a strict respiratory metabolism and are motile by one or several polar flagella. They are common inhabitants of soil and water and can also be found on the surfaces of plants and animals. They are are found in nature in a biofilm or in planktonic form. When supplied with Mn2+ ions P.putida GB-1 deposits manganese oxide around the outer membrane in the early stationary growth phase. The presence of a novel secretion system for the transport of manganese-oxidizing enzymes to the cell surface has been suggested for this strain (adapted from PubMed 12581354). |
