Data class Protein
Names IraD

Identifier IRAD
Protein name
RecName: Full=Anti-adapter protein iraD;
Gene name iraD
FUNCTION: Inhibits rpoS proteolysis by regulating rssB activity, thereby increasing the stability of the sigma stress factor rpoS during oxidative stress. Its effect on rpoS stability is due to its interaction with rssB, which probably blocks the interaction of rssB with rpoS, and the consequent delivery of the rssB-rpoS complex to the clpXP protein degradation pathway (By similarity).
SUBUNIT: Interacts with rssB (By similarity).
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm (By similarity).
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the GpW/Gp25 family. IraD subfamily.
Pfam PF04965; GPW_gp25; 1;
GO:0033554; Biological process: cellular response to stress.
GO:0005737; Cellular component: cytoplasm.
